Learn from the best coaches in the City of Ventura. Two long-tenured Eddie Bravo black belts head the academy. The full roster brings a Marine Corps black belt, an NCAA wrestler, and a deep bench of grapplers built inside the 10th Planet system.

Scott Ross is a third degree black belt under Eddie Bravo. Before opening 10th Planet Ventura, Scott was the head of the fundamentals program at 10th Planet Headquarters in Downtown LA — a position he held for five years. Scott is known for his prowess with leg locks, particularly ankle locks and guillotines, and is well-versed in the 10th Planet system in its entirety.

Matthew Dempsey has trained at 10th Planet HQ for a decade, earned his black belt in 2019, and is currently a 2nd Degree Black Belt under Eddie Bravo. Matt is a master of the Truck — especially known for reversing it — but is also adept across the entire 10th Planet system. Before moving to Ventura, Matt taught at 10th Planet Headquarters for over five years.

Greg is a retired combat veteran, having served 30 years in the United States Marine Corps — as both an enlisted service member and an officer. He holds a black belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and is a brown belt under Scott Ross and Matt Dempsey. Greg heads up the Dawn Patrol program and also teaches Foundations classes every Tuesday and Thursday at 10am. Semper Fidelis!

Prior to joining 10th Planet Ventura, Nick was an NCAA Division II wrestler for Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. Nick enjoys blending his wrestling with jiu-jitsu and takes pride in sharing his wrestling wisdom during class. Nick is currently a purple belt.

Damien is a purple belt who often teaches alongside his identical twin brother, Dominick. The twins are from nearby Fillmore and bring plenty of experience working with younger kids thanks to their large family. Damien is one of our top competitors and most diligent students, and he's become an excellent instructor in his own right. His Shark Tank class, every Sunday at noon, is one of the school's most popular.

Dominick is the evil twin (or is it the other way around?). Dominick and Damien often teach together — and since they're identical twins, don't feel too bad if you get them confused. Dominick teaches the kids' classes with Damien and also leads Foundations classes. A Fillmore native, Dominick is one of our top competitors.
